Elevate Greater Akron is a true collaborative.

We execute our priorities and strategies through working groups. Rather than creating new or duplicative organizations, Elevate Greater Akron brings together working groups comprised of our communities' existing experts who are the best at what they do.

Business Retention and Expansion

The Business Retention and Expansion Working Group coordinates solution-oriented business retention, expansion, and attraction for businesses in our region by understanding the challenges and opportunities around inclusive growth and longevity. They build connections to resources such as relocation, building/site selection, workforce, access to capital, and more.

Refocus on Downtown

The Refocus on Downtown Working Group advances the Downtown Vision and Redevelopment Plan through a community-focused that brings leaders together across sectors. They focus on providing equitable opportunities for all and leveraging unique assets together to build a downtown that is the premier location to live, visit, learn, work, and build a business.

Spark Akron

The Spark Akron Working Group is comprised of entrepreneurial support organizations dedicated to the inclusive growth and longevity of entrepreneurs and small businesses. They actively track the unique needs of local entrepreneurs and coordinate funding, resources, and ecosystem updates.

Opportunity Akron

The Opportunity Akron Working Group prioritizes technical assistance, capital, and advocacy for new, start up, and existing Black-owned businesses. They collectively provide workforce opportunities for in-demand jobs, foster inclusive cultures within regional businesses, and connect minority-owned businesses to procurement opportunities.

Polymer Industry Cluster

The Polymer Industry Cluster is guided by its Advisory Council (PIAC). The PIAC guides an industry-led vision, set of goals, and strategy to achieve on behalf of the Polymer Industry Cluster. The PIAC is comprised of more than 40 polymer-related companies and institutions from around the region and represents the innovative core of this initiative.

Communications

The Communications Working Group is a convening of communications and marketing representatives from strategic Elevate partner organizations. They co-create, co-execute, and advise communications, marketing, and public relations projects for Elevate Greater Akron. They also coordinate on broader economic development and broader regional marketing efforts.
